James “Jim” “Jimmy” R. Walters, 73 of Temperance, MI, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 13, 2015.  He was born on July 6, 1941, to Robert and Virginia  (O’Brien) Walters in Toledo, OH. Raised on the East Side of Toledo, he graduated from Waite High School.  Jim joined the U.S. Navy and spent 6 years traveling the country which he loved. His working career was spent as a diesel mechanic for WW Williams Co. in Stony Ridge, OH. He married Peggy on April 27, 1985, and together they purchased Heritage Acres Campground in Bowling Green, Ohio. Jim’s great mechanical and “fix anything” ability was put to the test for the 8 years they operated the RV Campground.  Jim’s final 10 year career was spent as the maintenance man for the Baymont/LaQuinita Inns and Suites in Perrysburg, OH.  His retirement years were spent as the best house husband in the world and finally tinkering in his beloved garage and watching NASCAR with his dog, “Dolly-girl” Zoey at his side.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Peggy.  Children, Kelly (Joe) Gates, Jimmy (Michelle) Walters, Wendy  Stutz, Randy (Becky) Walters, and step-son, Jay (Dena) Naylor.  7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his “best ever” mother-in-law, Betty Mitchell, and brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and most recently his only sibling, Jean Ann Romstadt.  We are sure that Jean Ann and Jim are up in Heaven toasting the Ohio State win.  Jim chose to donate his body to UTMC Medical School. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm, Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where a memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm.  Memorials may be made to Promedica Hospice.  www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
